Tips On Being An Efficient Client

We offer a unique service to you in that we are PERSONALIZED. Because all of our clients needs' are different we tailor our service to suit you. We have arranged thousands of housekeeping services so perhaps some of our experiences and tips may be of help to you.

We encourage you to be there to meet your housekeeper for the first visit at least long enough to  show them home room by room. You should point out where all the equipment and supplies are kept.

It  helps greatly for you to make a list of your priorities (these may vary from visit to visit).

This list can  then be used by a substitute in the event your regular person is ill. The housekeeper will do just about anything they can to help you.

Be Specific

Your housekeeper can also do many extras for you.

EXAMPLES

1. Put on a roast
2. Polish silver, brass and/or copper.
3. Prepare tables for a party.
4. Clean out & organize closets.
5. Wash laundry (all items should be presorted and pockets checked).

If you can't be there that first time, please call mid-morning to check to see that your housekeeper has found everything that she needs and that all is well and of course leave your detailed priority list (by room if possible).

If you have not had a housekeeper in your home for some time or your home is larger than 2,000 sq. ft., you may want to arrange for more hours.

After the initial first visit, you can make arrangements concerning the key.
We discourage you giving the key directly to your housekeeper as they really don't want the responsibility.

Communication has become an over-used word probably because we all need to improve on this skill. Let us hear from you and we will sincerely try to meet your needs. If you are happy , tell a friend!!!!!!

If you feel uncomfortable for any reason, please call the office. We can either change the housekeeper or talk with her. The housekeeper is there to work for you ... DON'T BE SHY. It is your money. Remember that maids are professional trained to the high standards but not "miracle-workers". They do try to do their best.

Please be sure to leave cash or cheque (made Payable to MDV Residential Cleaning). The Housekeeper will give you a receipt for the payment signed for you and the housekeeper.

Have all needed supplies! You can check with your housekeeper as to their preference or suggestions.   There is a suggested product list which will serve as a guide.

Make certain that your vacuum is in good working order and that your housekeeper knows where the bags  and extra belts for it are kept. Several other good investments may be:

1. Attachments for the vacuum, if you don't already have them.
2. Inexpensive portable vacuum for stairs, etc, if you have 2-story home.
3. Clothes hamper and waste baskets for kids rooms.
4. Plastic garbage bags.
5. Mini-blind cleaning tools

The housekeeper should be notified of any previous appointments regarding delivery men, pool   maintenance, etc.   They are not to let anyone into your home without prior instructions from you.

Pets should be introduced on the first visit. Any unfriendly dogs should be kept outside. For health and   safety,  housekeepers are unable to clean up after pets.

The alarm system should be explained to your housekeeper.

The housekeepers sign a contract when working with MDV Residential Cleaning. Please do not let them work on the side, as we do have to legally enforce this contract.

If there is any "heavy-type" work to be done (windows, washing walls, etc.), please notify the office and we can book a separate appointment for that work.
